The backing you choose determines where your patch goes and how long it lasts. Whether you're slapping it on a flight suit, a bag, a jacket, or a hat—this guide breaks down the options so you can get it right the first time.
🔥 Iron-On Backing
Best for: Clothes, bags, flat surfaces
Avoid on: Silk, nylon, anything delicate
Why use it: Quick, easy, no sewing required. Just heat, press, and done.
Instructions:
Heat Press
1.Preheat the garment to 320°F (160°C) for 10 seconds.
2.Use a heat-resistant tape for patch placement where needed.
3.Flip the patch on the garment, cover it with a fabric.
a.Heat press at 320°F (160°C) for 20–30 sec.
b.Pressure: Medium 4.Cool down to room temperature and remove the tape.
Hat Press
1.Preheat the cap to 320°F (160°C) for 10 seconds.
2.Use a heat-resistant tape for patch placement where needed.
3.Cover patch with thick fabric / Silicon pad
a.Heat press from the lower heater at 320°F (160°C) for 20–30 sec
b.Pressure: 2–4 Pr
4.Cool down to room temperature and remove the tape.
Handheld Iron
1.Prepare the garment: Clean and iron to create a smooth surface.
2.Set iron temperature to “Cotton” or 300–356°F (150–180°C).
3.Preheat the area by ironing it for a few seconds.
4.Place patch onto garment firmly and flip over.
- Press garment and patch backing together firmly with the iron for 20–30 seconds without sliding.
6.Let the patch and garment cool completely (at least 30 seconds).
🪡 Sew-On Backing
Best for: Denim, leather, tactical gear
Why use it: Maximum durability and that handcrafted vibe.
How it works:
Needle, thread, patience. Bonus points if you use a machine. Built to outlast whatever you throw at it.
⚡ Velcro Backing
Best for: Uniforms, hats, patch walls, anything swappable
Why use it: Swap it out, rip it off, slap on a new one. Over and over.
How it works:
One side goes on your gear, the other on your patch. Press 'em together and you're good to go.
🏷️ Adhesive Backing
Best for: One-time use, quick fixes, temporary flair
Why use it: It’s basically a patch-shaped sticker. No tools, no heat, no hassle.
How it works:
Peel off the backing, press it where you want it, and boom—you’re done.
